More Storage Space for iPad Mini, iPhone 6 with Mophie's Space Cases

Since the release of the "Space Pack," Mophie has put out a new line of products for the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPad Mini. They've also came out with a new battery pack called the "Spacestation." They all look pretty much like any of the already existing battery solutions, but they range anywhere from 32GB to 128 GB of flash storage, which is good for those who have a 16GB iPhone or iPad Mini. The iPhone Space Packs and the Spacestation start at $150 for 32GB of storage, and jump up to $200 for 64GB and $300 for 128GB. The iPad Mini pack, meanwhile, runs from $200 to $400.

The new cases still work with the Mophie's Space app, just like the old one, which lets you store and play media. The app allows you to create playlists with media on iOS devices and the Space case, as well as the company updating the app for iPhone uses to manage files you already have.

The iPhone 6 case will double your battery life, while the iPhone 6 Plus case will give you 50 percent more of a battery, which is basically giving you the same option with the new cases. If you'd prefer not to get a case, the Spacestation still can fully recharge an iPad mini and plug into multiple devices and smartphones.

If you're familiar with Mophie's products then the new cases and battery packs won't feel any differently to you. Personally, the Spacestation's metal case is the best feeling case in hand. The company's first battery case for a tablet was the iPad Mini Space Case, which only added a little thickness to the Mini. If you use a lot of media storage on your iOS then this is one of your only options for additional storage without going to wireless hard drives or the cloud for help.

Microsoft Making a Reputable Successor to the Surface

When it came out back in 2013, the Surface Pro 2 was a huge improvement from the original Surface RT. It also came with options. You could either get the Surface Pro 2 or just the Surface RT which gave consumers the choice between Windows 8.1 or Windows RT. Right now, it is still the latest addition to the line of Windows RT tablets.

What is Microsoft Planning?

Because of it's success with two different versions, it was odd that when they announced the Surface Pro 3, there was no mention of a regular Surface 3. They did plan to launch a Surface mini, but that got canceled right before they were about to officially announce it. Now, there really isn't any chance for a Surface 3 at all.

Reports say that Microsoft is getting ready to put out a new tablet that is supposed to be the big brother to the Surface 2 pretty soon, but it isn't going to be an RT device. It is going to have a fanless design and have either an Intel ATOM or an Intel Core M based processor. It will run the full version of Windows, which is a first for a non-pro tablet from the company.

With BUILD coming up, it is expected than Microsoft will announce the tablet around that time and probably launch it soon after. It will obviously come loaded with Windows 8.1 but will be upgradable to Windows 10 whenever it comes out. This comes as a bit of a pleasant surprise considering that Microsoft said none of the non-pro devices would be upgradeable to Windows 10. It does make sense because it will be launching so close to the time of the new operating system, but I don't think anyone was really expecting it.

What Does This Mean for Apple?

The new tablet is said to be a low-end tablet that will be a direct successor to the Surface 2, which has since been discontinued. In addition to that, it is also said that this new tablet will complete more directly against Apple's iPad. Apple has long since been the leader when it comes to tablets, probably because Apple was the first company to come out with a tablet, essentially setting the industry standard for the technology.

Big Fixes Coming!

The one thing that this tablet is doing right is that it is fixing arguably the biggest problem with previous Surface tablets, the fact that they didn't run Windows. This new tablet will run the full version of Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 10. This means that it will be able to run any Windows software that runs on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 according to reports from WinBeta.

The lack of software with the Surface 2 and Surface RT was a huge problem for these devices. In fact, the problem was so sever that Microsoft ended up writing down over $900 million in unsold inventory thanks to poor sales of the original Surface RT. In turn, Microsoft stopped selling the low end tablets and stating that existing Surface Pro 2 tablets would not be upgradeable to Windows 10.

What Does This Mean for the Future?

Microsoft unveiled last month a version of Windows that was designed for the tiny $35 Raspberry Pi PC. This version of Windows 10 could, hypothetically, be used to run on other small devices, giving Windows a new foothold in the Internet of Things (IoT) market. The IoT market is, essentially, the market where everyday things are given sensors, chips and apps, allowing them to join the internet.

This is important because Microsoft has promised that Windows 10 will work like a single operating system across multiple devices. What this means is that no matter what you are using Windows 10 on, whether it be a desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone, it will run and feel the same on each device. As Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella puts it, this is a major part of the company's strategy to make everyone "love Windows 10".

The 5 Best Apps You Don't Know About!

There are literally millions of apps on the market, and new ones come out every day. At this point, there are way too many to just gamble on them until you find the right ones for you. Hopefully, this list can help you find some super productive apps that will help you out in your everyday life!

Nintype: A super fast keyboard app

Nintype is an app that lets you type super fast by combining swiping motions and double tapping for double letters. It also has shortcuts for saved texts, emojis, hashtags, and any other shortcuts you set up. With this keyboard app, you can type more than 100 words per minute!

Cloe: Siri's smarter sister

Cloe is kind of like Siri. You can use it when you need to find an answer to just about any question. The main difference is that Cloe is actually powered by actual people. Sometimes Siri can steer you a little wrong, or give you something that isn't exactly what you were looking for. By interacting with a real human, the chances of that are slim. Also, you don't even need an app. It's not an app at all! You just have to sign up, and then you can text Cloe any time you'd like.

Workflow: Keeping  you from wasting time

Basically, Workflow is an app that can customize your phone to be more productive, in general. You can use it to completely skip tasks that waste time. You can tell your phone exactly what to do when it notices a certain action. You can schedule certain pictures to upload to social media, automatically call in to conference calls at the exact time they are scheduled, and pretty much anything else you can think of that will keep you productive.

Evernote Scannable: Grow your LinkedIn profile by scanning business cards

Basically, this app makes digital copies of business cards, receipts, and anything else. It pulls the information from these documents, finds the person on LinkedIn, and saves them to your contact list. Brilliant.

Duet: Use your iPad as a 2nd display for your Mac

If you have an extra iPad laying around, you can actually use it to be way more productive than you might have thought. Duet lets you connect your iPad to your Mac with the charging cable and actually use it as a second screen. This is especially awesome when you are doing photo editing, video editing, or music production. Nothing is cooler than having one screen dedicated to editing audio and another screen dedicated to an on-screen mixing board.

Lenovo Has A New Tablet Coming Soon That Aims To Keep You As Productive As Possible

I feel as if it's way too easy to get distracted nowadays, isn't it? I know I can tend to have a slightly lacking attention span every now and again. With all of the new technology that we have constantly coming out, and all of the social media that we use today, it can be hard to stay on track when business needs to be taken care of. 9 times out of 10, you more than likely use your tablet for entertainment and web browsing. There have been some tablets to emerge with the prospect of productivity in mind. Normally, these types of "productive" tablets have come with an attachable keyboard dock to make it more of a laptop. The keyboard would naturally add a sense of increased productivity. Lenovo plans on adding another to the "productive" tablet roster.

The new Lenovo ThinkPad 10, dropping in June, will offer some competition to the normal sized tablet market. The ThinkPad 10 is also aimed to be a more business oriented tablet.

The ThinkPad 8 launched back in January as a way to compete with Apple's iPad Mini. The new ThinkPad 10 is a 10 inch tablet that will be going head to head with the reigning champ; the 9.7 Apple iPad. Yes, most people who get tablets just find it to be a more mobile laptop, and they are quickly becoming more of the main computing device. It should come as no surprise that many consumers use it as such; Facebook, web browsing, eBooks, game apps, etc. That being said, Apple does have its own share of people who view the iPad as a business tool. It's this business crowd that Lenovo's new ThinkPad 10 is targeting. But to say that they will be able to go up against the tech giant has yet to be determined.

Spec wise, this tablet is pretty darn solid. Working with 4GB of RAM and an Intel quad-core processor means that you'll be able to take care of basically any business task. The new tablet comes stock with 128 GBs of storage space, as well as an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera.  It will be offered in 4G LTE and 3G services. It also comes with a nice 10 hour battery life. The screen resolution sits at 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. While it may not be quite as good as the retina display models from Apple, it definitely isn't lacking in image quality.

Even with their upgraded displays, the new ThinkPad has something that Apple doesn't: the ThinkPad Tablet Dock. This nifty little dock basically turns your tablet into another desktop, should you need it. When docked, it offers the use of an external keyboard and mouse. Then, there is also always the option of using it as another monitor to help make things less cluttered on your normal screen. This type of docking station definitely adds a bit more of a "business-y" feel to the new ThinkPad.

Retail will be sitting at $599, so be ready to shell out a bit of cash if you choose to buy it. If you're still on the fence, you can rent the ThinkPad 8 and get an idea of what the new ThinkPad 10 will be like. It can only be expected that the new ThinkPad 10 will be directly modeled after the ThinkPad 8, so renting the 8 might not be a bad choice. At least then you can get a feel for what the 10 will be like!

iOS7's White Screen Of Death?

Everyone knows that a tech product is only as good as how it operates. That means that it needs a good operating system and the inner workings to back it up when the time comes to get work done. A product's OS is a bigger deal than most people think. It is what controls everything in the device. When iOS7 dropped, it was met with mixed reviews. For the most part, it was met with mostly positive reaction but there were obviously flaws that people were able to pick out. Any OS is going to have bugs when it first releases. Now a certain issue has gotten so serious that Apple is finally going to address a problem that some have been having since September.

Enter the notorious "White screen of death".

We are all familiar with the infamous "blue screen of death". Whether you have been a victim of it yourself or if you have seen it through memos, the "blue screen of death" is very well known. Should it pop up on your screen, 9 times out of 10, you are going to need a new computer. The "white screen of death" is essentially the same thing, but for Apple users on iOS7. Reports have shown that the "color" of the screen depends on the actual color face of your phone. If your iPhone has a black face, it is a black screen of death, and likewise it will be white if your iPhone has a white face.

So what does the bug actually do? It essentially causes your iPhone to have a "soft reboot". A "soft reboot" is an action that causes a software on the OS to trigger a restart without removing any of the power from the actual device. It is not necessarily a TERRIBLE thing, but it is annoying none the less. This issue is only following those who currently run iOS7 on their iPhones. Some users are even claiming that when their phones drop below 30% power, that is when their "white/black screen of death" takes place.

Apple has made a plan to fix this issue, though. The plans for the iOS 7.1 update not only include slight design and UI changes, but also a fix to this bug. There is no release date as of yet for the new update, but developers have the new update in its 4th beta so it should be soon.

Apple has already had a lot of backlash from a lot of people with its release of iOS7 at the start. This paired with its other mishaps, such as the fingerprint scanner, does not put forward a good look for the company. Just know that if you are suffering from this bug on your iPhone, help is coming soon. We just have to be a bit more patient.

Apple’s iPad Available from Verizon?

apple ipad from verizonUnfortunately, despite all the rumors, Verizon Wireless will not be carrying the iPhone anytime soon, but they will be offering something else from Apple. As of October 28, over 2,000 Verizon stores across the nation will be carrying Apple’s iPad.

Now this statement may cause you to question how this is possible. Doesn’t Apple have a completely exclusive contract with AT&T? Hasn’t Verizon been attempting to get an Apple product as part of their line for a while now and been totally unsuccessful? Well, with the iPad the company has been able to pull a few strings.

The trick is that Verizon will not be selling the iPad (Wi-Fi + 3G). This is the version of the device that runs on AT&T’s 3G network. They will instead be providing the Wi-Fi only iPad that will run on Verizon’s MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot.

There will be three different bundles that Verizon will offer to customers: a 16GB iPad with MiFi for $629.99, a 32GB with MiFi for $729.99, and a 64GB iPad with MiFi for $829.99. Verizon will only offer one data plan for the iPad: up to 1GB of data for $20 per month.

It’s no surprise that AT&T announced recently that they will be selling Apple’s WiFi + 3G iPad in their retail stores as of October 28 as well.

The bundle prices that Verizon will offer will be about the same as AT&T’s 3G packages, but with AT&T there will be the option of two different data plans. You can either get up to 250MB of data per month for $14.95 or up to 2GB of data per month for $25.

So which carrier should you consider purchasing your iPad from? Well, the up side to getting your device from Verizon is the convenient versatility of their MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot. Verizon’s MiFi provides Internet access for up to five different devices ranging from 30 to 40 feet away. Unfortunately with MiFi you have to carry it around with you. It is very small though, measuring about 3.5 x 2.3 x 0.4 inches.

Battery life is another thing that you must take into consideration. When you have other devices connected, the life can be drained very quickly. Some testing revealed that when four other Wi-Fi connections were made, the battery dropped to one single bar in about an hour or so. In about an hour and a half, the battery was almost completely drained. On the other hand, AT&T’s iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G was able to last about eight hours, while having the 3G modem running constantly.

Where you decide to buy your iPad is entirely up to you. There are advantages with both of the carriers. No matter what, I just think that it is great to see an Apple product made available from Verizon. It may still be awhile before we see the iPhone, but the fact that they are now providing the iPad is definitely a step in the right direction.

Dish Networks Turns Your iPad into a Remote Control

Dish Networks Turns Your iPad into a Remote Control
Imagine you've just settled into your favorite chair after a long, hard day at work, you've got a nice cold drink, you've got your iPad so you can catch up on some reading, and you're just about turn on the TV, when you realize your remote control is out of batteries. Let's face it, when we're tired, most of us would rather watch the worst TV show ever than get up and change the channel ourselves, but what if I told you you could change the channel with your iPad? Well, if you're a Disk Network subscriber, you can now do just that.

Dish's new app turns your iPad into a remote control for your Dish digital video recorder. Just like similar apps for the iPhone and iPod touch, the app called "Remote Access" allows you to access all of the same DVR functions and features as your remote control does.

You can use the app to schedule TV recordings on multiple receivers, delete timers, browse and search up to nine days of shows, manage your DVR library by setting priorities, resolve recording conflicts, and delete the shows you've already watched. It works with almost all of Dish's standard and high-definition DVRs.

Best of all, if your TV is connected to a compatible Dish receiver, the Remote Access app can work as a TV remote control. You can use it to change channels, browse the program guide, play recorded programs, and access navigation features such as rewind, fast forward, and pause.

Dish also offers similar remote control-type apps for laptops, desktops, and non-Apple smartphones.

Along with several other vendors, Dish is also partnering with Google to make an app for the upcoming Google TV. This web-based app by Dish would provide a search box that would allow you to search for data via web and television sources. It would also allow you to find relevant content, regardless of whether it's on TV or online, and allow you to personalize it so that it's easier for you to discover content that fits your tastes. The first Google TV device is supposed to be introduced this fall by Sony. Dish will make it possible to use Google TV on its DVRs as well. Companies such as Best Buy and Logitech will also have a hand in Google TV.

In the meantime, Remote Access for your iPad is free and can be downloaded at the Apple App Store. Don't have an iPad? Consider trying out a temporary iPad rental to see if you like Apple's latest device.

Pocket Manager for iPad and iPhone

Last week, the company Intersog LLC, an "international software construction company that is located in Chicago, Illinois," announced an updated release of Pocket Manager: Accounting for Management for the iPad and iPhone. Pocket Manager is considered a Top 50 grossing business app and that shouldn't change with all the neat new features!

The original iPhone version of the app has lots of updates, including an in-app search feature and social networking options that allow you to post messages on Facebook and Twitter. It will also allow you to email course text to friends and co-workers. You can get the app at the iTunes App store.

The app itself is actually a course that is divided into three sections: the course, flash cards, and tests. It contains 11 chapters that cover many aspects of financial management. You can save your place at any time during the course and pick up where you left off at any time. There is also a glossary that helps you with definitions to words you may not understand. Once you complete the text, you can use flash cards which help you prepare for the tests, which follow each chapter. Regardless of whether you get an answer wrong or right, detailed explanations accompany each test answer and each test can be retaken.

Sell On the Go with New eBay iPhone Apps

Sell with the New eBay iPhone App
If you like to sell on ebay, or even make your living that way, now you can do it on the go. eBay has announced two new apps for iPhone. One is an app for eBay.com and the other is for the company's new website, eBayClassifieds.com. The new apps allow consumers to take a picture of and list an item in under a minute and make auction-style listings for free. eBay.com has over 90 million users worldwide and the new eBayClassified.com allows you to reach buyers in your community. The new app will also allow you to buy items on the website, using your iPhone, and it's easier than ever. This week, an app for the new Apple iPad will be available as well.

In a press release, Lorrie Norrington, the president of eBay, talked about the apps and what they'll do for eBay users, "We offer more choice in ecommerce formats for sellers and buyers than any other online shopping destination. The eBay Selling app makes it easy for sellers to bring even greater value and selection to eBay and offer more great deals for buyers. Whether selling or shopping, we’ve put the world’s largest online marketplace in the palm of your hand, and we’ve introduced a great new option for consumers who prefer to sell and buy in a trusted, family friendly local classifieds format.”

Right now, over 8 million people are using their iPhones to shop on the website and this year the company expects to generate over $1.5 billion in merchandise volume through mobile platforms, alone, doubling the amount generated in 2009.

The eBay.com app allows users to do a number of things directly from their phones. Sellers can point, shoot, and click to list an item in less than a minute (or so says the press release). Sellers can also research sales trends before listing items and view the status of items for sale. The app allows users to share their listings on Facebook and Twitter, as well as quickly link to other eBay and Paypal apps.

The eBayClassifieds.com app allows users to post free ads in under a minute. The ad can have up to eight photos from the user's photo library or that were taken fro the iPhone camera. Users can also search by keyword, location, price range, and other specifications quickly and easily, s well as view a single-age ad view with reply, share, and watch features.

The new apps are available in over 190 countries, in eight languages. Both apps are free to download. Together, with the recently released Paypal Mobile for iPhone, the apps make mobile eBay transactions easier than ever.

AT&T Working to Improve Its Network

AT&T Working to Improve Its Network
Everywhere you turn, someone is complaining about their AT&T service, but it looks like the company is getting ready to invest a large amount of money - $2 billion - to improve its network this year. From dropped calls to slow wireless, AT&T receives complaints from all over the country, particularly from iPhone users, many of whom say they love their phone, just not the fact that they are forced to use AT&T. Even the company admits that service in cities such as New York and San Francisco isn't up to what it should be. With Apple's new iPad product going on sale in two months, the company is surely feeling the heat to do something about their problems.

Many industry analysts say that AT&T won't be able to handle the added strain the iPad will put on the network, as it's barely been able to handle the iPhone. In 2009, in the 4th quarter, alone, over 3.1 million new iPhones were activated. However, on the night before Apple unveiled the iPad, AT&T made the announcement about their improvements. Their goal is to convince investors and consumers that they are up to the task and will be able to handle the iPad.

The announcement was made by Chief Operations Officer John Stankey during a conference calls with reporters. He said the company was planning to upgrade cell sites and add 2,000 additional cell sites all over the country, "We’ve got an aggressive plan to benefit everyone."

The iPhone uses ten times the network that other smartphones use, which is one reason AT&T has had so man problems. The iPad will be a much bigger strain. Several models of the tablet computer are being offered; the cheapest one being the 16 GB, Wifi-friendly one priced at $499. The $629 version has a 3G connection. AT&T will be offering a two-tiered pricing system for the 3G model. For $14.99 a month, you can use 250 MB and for $29.99 a month, you can have unlimited access.
